Dear Elm Site Owners:
Wow, this season FLEW by! The Elm Board wishes you all a great off-season, holiday season, and best wishes for a great new year. We can’t wait to see you again in 2024!
This was a big year for Elm! I’ll try to do a “Year-in-Review” as briefly as I can…
- After a grueling election process imposed upon us by NJ’s new laws, you have a new board! Thank you SO much to all who voted! Your 2023-2025 Board of Directors is: Pamela Cronin, President & Village Rep; Vincent Damiano, Vice President; Kimberly DeYoung, Secretary; John Cronin, Treasurer; Bianca Henriquez, Board Member & Alt Rep. The new board has also appointed Wayne Rodriquez CPA as Assistant Treasurer. Thank you to all who volunteer their time to help Elm Village thrive!
- The Septic Unification Resolution that I drafted earlier in the season was approved by the TTPOA Board! This means that starting next year, TTPOA will pay for our electric costs related to our septic pumping – which in our case, will save our village approximately $5,000 a year! This was a HUGE win for us as the village with the most septic pumps (we have TEN of them!). With the rising costs of electricity, we would have had to increase our village fee yet again this year if this had not been approved. Thank you to all of the TTPOA board members that voted in favor of this resolution – it was a HUGE help to our village!
- We launched our own website and email newsletter! All Elm owners were assigned a username and password for the owners-only content, which includes meeting notices/agendas, meeting minutes, important documents (master deed, by-laws, budgets, rules & regs, construction/zoning info, etc.). If you didn’t receive your login info or aren’t getting our email newsletters, write to us at board@elmerssticktogether.com. There’s also great info on our “Safety Info” page including our emergency evacuation plan, important phone numbers, bear safety info, poison ivy safety info, and info about those darn spotted lanternflies! And next year we will launch the “merch store” as well to raise money for the village!
- Speaking of the lanternflies, please be sure to squash them if you see them. Also, if you have their favorite tree (called “Tree of Heaven”) on your property, the tree itself is also an invasive species which is dangerous to nearby foliage and should be removed. Just be sure to get permission from the board prior to removing any trees.
- We again had some great social events this year! Next year, we will follow the same format: Each village meeting between Memorial Day & Labor Day will be followed by a social event. We will also host two “Beautify Elm” days this year (6/22 & 9/21) where we will bribe you with pizza and T-shirts to come out and help maintain the village. Here’s the schedule for 2024: Sat 4/27 4pm, Sat 5/18 4pm, Sat 6/22 4pm, SUNDAY 7/7 Annual Mtg @ 10am, Sat 8/24 4pm, Sat 9/21 4pm, Sat 10/26 4pm. We hope to see you all at the meetings and events!
- Lastly, we received a variety of rule-related complaints this year (noise, parking, off-leash dogs, unauthorized tree removal, etc.) If you encounter any issues next season, we encourage you to 1) Do the neighborly thing – simply ask your neighbor to adjust what they’re doing to fit the rules, and 2) If that doesn’t work, email the Elm Board at board@elmerssticktogether.com for advice.
Above all, let’s keep following the spirit of our “Elmers Stick Together” motto and work together to maintain our status as THE best village in TT!
All my best,
Pam
